Everything Happens for Two Reasons

I know you have heard the comment, ‘Everything happens for a reason’. And yes, accurate and to add value to this, all human behaviour happens for 2 reasons.

Have you ever wanted to know how some people seem to have everything go the right way, yet others struggle… all the time?

Human behaviour has always fascinated me and even more so in the last 13 years working with the elite in Sport, business and life.

These human behaviours have become more evident over the last 13 years as I have got to know what the elite do that make them successful. And on the flipside, I have become very familiar with how unsuccessful people think.

This distance between the successful and those not is very small and very simple to overcome.

You may think that are somehow fortunate and lucky, you may think they have some success gene that others may lack.  No, just an understanding is what they lack.

And here is the solution…

My experience and understanding is that everything happens for 2 reasons.

Firstly, NEED.

I Need to do… I Must do… I Have to… are all ‘Survival- Based’ comments and from that it triggers the survival response in us. In times of pressure and stress our mind retreats to learnt behaviours, it drops into survival mode and is automatically past focused. We rely on our experiences and known solutions to create an outcome that is no better than getting the same result… I am reminded of the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

The 2nd reason why things happen is INTENTION.

Intention is choice. I choose to work, I choose to live here, I choose to drive this car. When you live in Intention and choice, the world opens for you.

If you have an intention, your mind is in ‘Growth- Mode’ and the only difference is that this fires the imagination. When you intend, it is future focused and therefor you can not draw on memories, intention and choice will fire up the imagination to create an idea, the idea triggers action and action delivers the positive result.

I choose to drive this car… or I need to.
I choose to work… or I need to

I intend to live an incredible life… or I need to.

The difference between success and failure is the use of your imagination and your imagination has no boundaries.

Now Intend to have a great day and you will see what opens for you!
